Marking a milestone, the newly developed Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) facility at Kollam Railway Station has been inaugurated. Constructed at a cost of Rs 28.75 crore, the MLCP, spanning a built-up area of 11,445 sq m, comprises a ground floor plus four upper floors, offering organised parking capacity for 228 two-wheelers and 138 four-wheelers. The MLCP has been equipped with modern fire safety systems, advanced surveillance infrastructure and essential utilities to enhance passenger safety, security and operational efficiency. The facility is designed to streamline vehicular movement within the station premises and improve overall commuter convenience.

In addition to the MLCP, RITES is executing platform upgrades, construction and modernisation of terminal buildings, development of foot overbridges and comprehensive external development works. These activities are being carried out in a phased manner to ensure continuity of train services and minimal disruption to passengers during the construction period.

The redevelopment of Kollam Railway Station is aligned with Indian Railways’ vision of transforming key stations into integrated transport hubs with enhanced passenger experience. And RITES remains committed to delivering the project with the highest standards of quality, safety and sustainability, ensuring world-class infrastructure and seamless connectivity for commuters.
