New Delhi: State-run SJVN Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has successfully achieved commercial operation date (COD) for an additional 78.23 MW capacity at its flagship 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan. This milestone follows the earlier commissioning of 241.77 MW (Phase-1) of the project on April 2, 2025.
With this latest addition, the cumulative operational capacity of the project now stands at over 320 MW. The Bikaner Solar Power Project is expected to be fully commissioned by the third quarter of 2025.
Located in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan, the project is being developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme – Phase II, Tranche III, administered by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. The initiative mandates the use of domestically manufactured components under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, reinforcing the government’s Make in India programme and strengthening India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem.
Once fully operational, the solar power generated from the 1000 MW project will be supplied to the states of Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, contributing significantly to regional energy security and the national renewable energy goals.
The Bikaner project is a key component of SJVN’s strategic roadmap, aligning with India’s commitment to achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. It also supports SJVN’s vision of becoming a 25,000 MW company by 2030 and scaling up to 50,000 MW by 2040.
