New Delhi: SJVN Limited has commemorated the commercial operation of Unit-II of its 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project (BTPP) in Bihar, marking the commissioning of the second 660 MW unit of the project.

SJVN Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta inaugurated a programme at the project premises to mark the milestone. He also inaugurated the project's Centralized Control Room and inspected key operational facilities, including the Ash Dyke, to review operational preparedness and functioning.

Gupta said the project will play an important role in meeting Bihar's energy requirements and supporting the state's socio-economic development. He urged the project team to maintain focus on safe, efficient and reliable operation of the plant.

SJVN Director (Projects) Rajesh Kumar Chandel also appreciated the efforts of the project team and attributed the achievement to the sustained commitment and teamwork of all those associated with the project.

During the visit, Gupta and Chandel held discussions with Bihar Energy Secretary Ajay Yadav and Buxar District Magistrate Sahila on issues related to land acquisition, CSR, PSP projects, power purchase agreements (PPAs), renewable power available with SJVN and potential investment opportunities in Bihar.

The 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project is located at Chausa in Bihar's Buxar district and has been implemented by SJVN Thermal Private Limited (STPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN.
