Vice president Naidu Inaugurates 6th Edition of GRIDTECH

Gridtech 2019 launched at Pragati Maidan will last till April 5, 2019. The mega event serves as an international platform for various stakeholders of power industry across the globe

New Delhi: Began with an idea of creating a platform for new inventions and inspiring innovation in the field of power the GRIDTECH entered into 6th edition at Pragati maidan in New Delhi. Hon'ble vice president M. Venkaiah Naidu, inaugurated GRIDTECH-2019 on April 3, 2019. This international exhibition has been organized by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), with the support of Ministry of Power, Government of India and in association with CBIP and IEEMA.

An opportunity to discuss environment friendly solutions- Naidu

Addressing the gathering the vice president said, "Events such as GRIDTECH 2019 provide an opportunity for Power System professionals in Industry & Academia to exchange ideas & deliberate on environment-friendly solutions to overcome the challenges faced by the sector. It is an excellent platform for evolution of new ideas in the energy sector through brainstorming by seasoned professionals. I am glad that it also has a Student Pavillion & I hope this will give the young students an opportunity to showcase their own innovative ideas." The three-day exhibition is showcasing new technologies in Transmission, Distribution, Renewable Integration, Smart Grid, Communication etc.

The exhibition and the concurrent summit saw a large number of exhibitors, utilities, policymakers, regulators, investors, academicians, visitors and delegates who made use of the excellent global networking opportunity and experienced the state-of-the-art power technologies and equipment of future Transmission, Distribution, Smart Grid infrastructure.

The first conference of this event focused on 'Latest Technologies in Transmission, Distribution, Smart Grid and Communication'. The second parallel conference is on 'Integration of Renewable with Synchronous Grid' being held on 3rd-4th April, 2019. Speaking to PSUwatch Naresh kumar, spokesperson, Powergrid said "GRIDTECH 2019 will serve as an international platform for all the interested stakeholders in the global power scenario. The event also gives adquate space to other important issues such as sustainable growth, environment and technology in its discussions."

Dedicated 'Innovation Pavillion' for students

In an endeavor to encourage young and talented students' community towards innovation, a dedi-cated "Students' Innovation Pavilion" was organized for demonstration of working models from stu-dents of various technical institutes. It would motivate young students and also offer a platform for industry-student interaction.

About 30 student teams from 17 technical institutes across the country are showcasing their innovative work-ing models projects and competing for recognition and cash prizes amounting to Rs. 10 lakhs. On this occasion, A.K. Bhalla, Secretary (Power) Ministry of Power, Government of India, along with CMD (POWERGRID) welcomed Hon'ble Vice President of India. Also present on this occasion were senior officials from Ministry of Power, MNRE, CEA, CERC, SERC, Central & State Government officials and other Power PSUs, private sector companies, experts from academic institutions, consultants etc. You may visit Gridtech-2019 at Hall Nos. 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 at ITPO, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
