The record-breaking picture was uploaded on the social media application on January 4, captioned: "Let's set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this."

The photo, which was posted by the account world_record_egg on January 4, has attained over 21 million 'likes'. The previous record of 18 million was held by Jenner, who posted a picture of her daughter Stormi.

"Let's set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this."

"This has to be the best thing to happen in modern history," wrote one commenter. "YOU DID IT EGG!!" cheered another.

Jenner responded to the message by posting a video of her frying an egg on the street with the message: "Take that little egg".
