New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that metro services will be non-operational till 2.30 pm on Holi, while metro feeder bus services will also not be available till 2 pm and will run according to schedule thereafter. All lines of the Delhi Metro, including the Airport Express Line, will commence from 2.30 pm on Thursday, a statement released by DMRC said.
In order to make travelling safe, especially for women, the Delhi police has beefed up patrolling and deployed more women personnel in plain uniform around university campuses, to make certain of people's safety on the Holi festival this Thursday.
Patrolling has also increased in the South Campus area of the national capital as two special pickets have been deployed around Moti Lal Nehru College and the South Campus' main entrance, Arya added
To discover and catch traffic violators, police teams with alcometers have been deployed at major vulnerable points and intersections, Delhi police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), Devender Arya, said extra pickets have been added where women personnel have been deployed with male policemen.
Patrolling has also increased in the South Campus area of the national capital as two special pickets have been deployed around Moti Lal Nehru College and the South Campus' main entrance, Arya added.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Nupur Prasad said patrolling has increased and picket teams including women police personnel have been placed near the hostels of the North Campus area.
"Our teams are working in close coordination with the traffic officials to check incidents of drunken driving. Senior police officers are also on the ground patrolling in the evening to ensure that no untoward incidents take place," Prasad said.
"We have also put up restrictions on the sale of balloons which are smaller than two inches," she added.
