Ballia (UP), Nov 25 (PTI) A man has been arrested in this district for allegedly raping his 22-year-old neighbour in this district, police said on Saturday.

Station House Officer (SHO) Dharam Veer Singh said the woman, resident of a village under the Bairia police station limits, was raped by her neighbour, Umesh Kumar (27), on Thursday evening.

The incident took place when she had gone out to attend the nature's call, Singh said.

The SHO said that based on the complaint of the woman's father, an FIR under Indian Penal Code Section 376 (rape) was registered against Umesh Kumar. The accused was arrested later in the night. PTI COR CDN CK
