Atul Gupta assumes charge as CMD of Engineers India Limited

Atul Gupta has assumed charge as new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Engineers India Limited (EIL) with effect from June 29

New Delhi: Engineers India Limited (EIL) on Monday announced the appointment of Atul Gupta as its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), following approval from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

The appointment was approved through a ministry order dated June 29, 2026. Gupta, who was serving as Director (Commercial) at EIL, has assumed charge as the CMD of the company with immediate effect.

According to a regulatory filing, the Board of Directors of EIL, at its meeting held on June 29, took note of the appointment and approved the assumption of charge by Gupta. He will hold the office until the date of his superannuation on October 31, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Previously, Praveen M. Khanooja (IA&AS), Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), was holding the additional charge of EIL's CMD post since the superannuation of Vartika Shukla on February 28.

A mechanical engineer from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar, Gupta joined EIL as a management trainee in 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering.

With more than three decades of experience, Gupta has been associated with a wide range of domestic and international projects executed by the company. During his career, he has led multidisciplinary teams across technical and commercial functions involving process engineering, engineering contracts and procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities.

He has played a key role in the execution of several large projects in India and abroad and has worked across various sectors, including refineries, petrochemicals, pipelines and fertilisers. He has also served at several project locations before moving to the corporate office in 2007.
