BHEL appoints Asit Gopal as Part-time Official Director

BHEL has appointed Asit Gopal as a Part-time Official (Government Nominee) Director on its Board, with effect from February 3

New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has appointed Asit Gopal as a Part-time Official (Government Nominee) Director on its Board, with effect from February 3. Presently, Gopal is serving as Special Secretary and Financial Adviser (SS&FA) in the Ministry of Heavy Industry.

The appointment has been made based on a communication received from the Ministry of Heavy Industries dated February 2, and subsequent approval of the BHEL Board.

According to the company, Gopal is a senior government officer with over three decades of experience across public administration, finance, vigilance, tribal affairs, education, sanitation and forest management. An alumnus of IIT Bombay, he holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering along with postgraduate qualifications in Wildlife Management, Public Policy and Management, and an MBA.

He has held several key positions during his career, including Additional Secretary (Finance), Director in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Central Vigilance Commission, Mission Director of Swachh Bharat Mission (Madhya Pradesh), and Chairman and Managing Director of the National Scheduled Tribe Finance and Development Corporation. He also served as Commissioner of the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), overseeing the implementation of Eklavya Model Residential Schools.
