Bijay Kumar Das set to be Director (Production) of NALCO

Bijay Kumar Das, who is currently serving as Executive Director of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), has been recommended for the post of Director (Production) of the company

New Delhi: Bijay Kumar Das is set to be Director (Production) of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Mines. Das' name has been recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Wednesday. He is currently serving as Executive Director in the same organisation.

Das has been selected for the post of Director (Production) of NALCO from a list of seven candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. There were six candidates, including Das, who were from NALCO, and two others were from MOIL Limited and Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). Currently, Balasubramanyam is serving as Director (Production) in the organisation but he is set to superannuate on November 30.

Das is an Engineering Graduate in Mechanical Engineering. He joined NALCO in 2008 as Chief Manager (Business Development), where he was looking after business development activities.

As Director (Production) of NALCO, Das will be responsible for all production activities of the company at various units such as Mining, Alumina Refining, Power Plant and Aluminium Smelter. He also will be responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the plant, besides coordination with connected agencies and introduction of new and efficient technology.

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), incorporated in 1981, is a Navratna PSU, having integrated and diversified operations in mining, metal and power under the Ministry of Mines. It is one of the largest integrated Bauxite-Alumina-Aluminium-Power complexes in the country, encompassing bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and casting, power generation, rail and port operations.
