Ghanshyam Das Gupta assumes charge as Director (Mining) of HCL

The Central Government had approved the appointment of Ghanshyam Das Gupta for HCL's Director (Mining) post on May 11

New Delhi: Ghanshyam Das Gupta has assumed charge as Director (Mining) of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Mines, on Thursday. Prior to this, he was serving as Executive Director & Unit Head of Khetri Copper Complex in Rajasthan of the organisation.

Gupta was recommended for the post of Director (Mining) of HCL by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel. He was selected from a list of 11 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its 5th selection meeting of 2026 held on January 23.

Further, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved his appointment to the said post. On May 11, the Ministry of Mines conveyed its approval, which was later informed by the mining PSU to the stock exchanges through a regulatory filing.

He has been appointed to the post till date of his superannuation on September 30, 2030, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

A seasoned mining professional, Gupta has been associated with key operational and leadership roles within the company. His appointment is expected to further strengthen HCL’s mining operations and strategic growth initiatives.
