Girish Gopinathan Nair set to be next Director (Technical) of ECL

The PESB Panel has recommended the name of Girish Gopinathan Nair for the post of Director (Technical) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL)

New Delhi: Girish Gopinathan Nair is set to be next Director (Technical) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a PSU under the Ministry of Coal. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) Panel on Monday. Presently, he is serving as Executive Director (Contracts) at Coal India Limited.

Nair has been recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of ECL from a distinguished pool of 11 candidates. The decision was finalized during the PESB’s 93rd meeting of the year, held on December 1. Other candidates, who were on the list, included senior executives from prominent coal & power PSUs, such as Central Coalfields Limited, Bharat Coking Coal Limited, and NLC India Limited.

As Director (Technical) of ECL, Nair will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He will be responsible for the operation of mines and also for field activities, technical functions and the safety of mines.
