Govt approves Anupam Misra's appointment for HCL’s CMD post

Anupam Misra, who is currently serving as Director (Marketing) of FACT, was recommended for the HCL's CMD post by the PESB panel on March 12

New Delhi: The Ministry of Mines has approved the appointment of Anupam Misra as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) on Monday. Currently, he is serving as Director (Marketing) at Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT). He was recommended for the HCL’s CMD post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on March 12.

According to an order from the Ministry of Mines, Misra has been appointed as CMD of the company with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post on or after July 1. He will hold the position until his superannuation on February 28, 2030, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Misra will succeed current CMD Sanjiv Kumar Singh, who is set to retire on June 30.

Misra is a seasoned public sector executive with over 33 years of experience in marketing, international trade and business development across sectors such as minerals, metals, chemicals, agro-commodities and engineering goods. He holds a B. Tech (Hons.) in Civil Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and a PGDM for Working Executives from IIM Lucknow. He has also completed management programmes from IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta.

He has been serving as Director (Marketing) at FACT since July 2020, where he is playing a key role in expanding the company's distribution network, market reach and product portfolio. He also held the additional charge of CMD of FACT from January 5, 2026, to February 2, 2026.

Earlier, he was Director (Marketing) at PEC Ltd. and General Manager (Marketing) at STC of India Ltd., gaining extensive experience in international trading and marketing operations.
