Jasbir Singh takes over as new Director (S&HE) of MDSL

Mumbai: Commander Jasbir Singh Indian Navy (Retd.) has taken over as new Director (Submarine and Heavy Engineering) at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDSL). Prior to this, Singh was serving as General Manager (Project Planning and Design) in the same organisation.

Singh was recommended for the post of new Director (Submarine and Heavy Engineering) of MDSL by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on May 16. He was selected from the list of four candidates. With his new appointment, Singh will replace Captain Rajiv Lath, who was serving at the same position in the organisation.

Singh is an alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun and National Defence Academy, Khadakvasala. He completed his B.Tech (Mechanical) from Naval College of Engineering. He holds dual master's degree, in Management from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi and Mathematical Modelling & Computer Simulation from Pune University.

He has served the Indian Navy for about 22 years from January 1988 to June 2010. He joined MDSL as Deputy General Manager (Production) in June 2010. Later he was promoted as Additional General Manager in December 2013.

Singh has wide experience in all aspects of shipbuilding, operations and repair. He has served onboard frontline warships like INS Mumbai and Kuthar, at Naval Dockyard, Warship Overseeing Team, Ship Design & Production Directorates at IHQ at Integrated Headquarters at Ministry of Defence. During the last nine years at MDL, he was Project Superintendent of Scorpene Submarine Project prior to his election as Director.
