New Delhi: Aneish P Rajan (IRS) has been selected for appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) issued on Wednesday, Ranjan has been selected for the appointment to the post under the Central staffing scheme for a period of four years. His appointment is effective from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Ranjan is an Indian Revenue Service Officer (IRS) of 2008-batch. He is currently serving as Joint Commissioner (Customs). "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Culture," it added.

The Ministry of Culture is the ministry that is in charge of the preservation and promotion of the art and culture of India. Prahlad Singh Patel is the current Minister of Culture. Recently, the government has established the National Mission on Libraries under this ministry.
