BEL invites job applications for CMD post; apply before May 12

BEL Recruitment 2021: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has released a job notification for the engagement of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD). Eligible and interested candidates can apply for the job before May 12. The topmost post of the organisation will fall vacant on July 1. Currently, MV Gowtama is serving as CMD of BEL.

BEL is a Navratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence. The CMD is the Chief Executive of the corporation and accountable to its board of directors and the government. He is responsible for the efficient functioning of the corporation for achieving its corporate objectives and performance parameters.

Pay scale: Rs 2,00,000 – Rs 3,70,000 (IDA)

Age Limit: Minimum age limit 45 years and age of superannuation 60 years

The minimum length of service required in the eligible scale will be one year for internal candidates, and two years for others as on the date of the vacancy.

Employment status

The applicant must, on the date of application, as well as on the date of interview, be employed in a regular capacity – and not in a contractual/ad-hoc capacity – in one of the followings:-

(a) Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) (including a full-time functional Director in the Board of a CPSE);
(b) Central Government including the Armed Forces of the Union and All India Services;
(c) State Public Sector Enterprise (SPSE) where the annual turnover is *Rs 5,000 crore or more;
(d) Private Sector in a company where the annual turnover is *Rs 5,000 crore or more.
Preference would be given to candidates from listed Companies.

(*The average audited annual turnover of three financial years preceding the calendar year in which the post is advertised shall be considered for applying the approved limits)


The applicant should be an engineering graduate preferably in Electronics or Communication or Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university or institution with the good academic record.

The applicant with MBA qualifications will have added advantage.


The applicant should possess adequate experience at a senior level of management in an organisation of repute.
The applicant with experience in Finance or Marketing or Production will have added advantage.
Experience in the defence industry is desirable.

Duration of appointment 

The appointment shall be for a period of five years from the date of joining or up-to-the-date of superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Note (i) Applicants from Central Government / All India Services should be holding a post of the level of Additional Secretary in Government of India or carrying an equivalent scale of pay on the date of application.
(ii) Applicants from the Armed forces of the Union should be holding a post of the level of Lt. General in the Army or equivalent rank in Navy/Air Force on the date of application.

Applicants from State Public Sector Enterprises/ Private Sector should be working at Board level position on the date of application.
