New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Alok Tiwari (IAS) as Private Secretary to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the Ministry of Defence. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) he has been appointed to the post for a period of five years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Tiwari is a 2007-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He has held as District Magistrate of Kanpur and Deputy Secretary in the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance.
Tiwari has done B Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Kanpur. He has held various important positions in the state government of Uttar Pradesh. He has more than 13 years of experience in the government. He also holds a master's degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
