New Delhi: Brij Mohan Mishra (IAS) is the new Secretary of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). He has assumed charge of the post on November 23. Prior this assignment, he was serving as District Magistrate (South District) of Delhi. With his new assignment, Mishra has replaced Amit Singla (IAS) who has been appointed as Secretary (Health & Family Welfare) in the Department of Health and Family Welfare of the Delhi government.
Brij Mohan Mishra is a 2008-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of AGMUT cadre. He is a Science Graduate (B.Sc.) in Zoology from Udai Partap College of Purvanchal University Jaunpur. He has also done an MBBS from King George's Medical College (Now King George's Medical University). Prior to joining as District Magistrate (South District) of Delhi, he has held various important positions in Delhi (UT). His previous assignments include Additional Commissioner of Enforcement Department, Secretary of Income Tax Department, Deputy Commissioner and Settlement Officer among others.
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is the municipal council of the city of New Delhi, India, and the area under its administration is referred to as the NDMC area. NDMC, covering an area of 43.7 km. It is governed by a council headed by a chairperson, who is usually a career civil servant and holds the rank of Joint Secretary to Government of India appointed by Government of India. The council also includes the Chief Minister of Delhi as an Ex officio member. The Union Territory of Delhi is divided into three statutory urban regions: the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), and the Delhi Cantonment Board.
