New Delhi: Atul Singh (IPS) has been given additional charge of the post of Additional Secretary (JS Level) in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the entrustment of the additional charge of the post of Additional Secretary of CVC to Atul Singh (IPS). He has been given additional charge of the post for a period of three months or till a regular incumbent is appointed or until further orders, whichever is the earlier. 

Singh is a 1995-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Sport. Prior to joining the Department of Sports in November 2020, he was serving as Additional Secretary in the Central Vigilance Commission. 

Central Vigilance Commission (CVC)

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) is an apex governmental body created to address governmental corruption. The Parliament enacted a law conferring statutory status on the CVC in 2003. It has the status of an autonomous body, free of control from any executive authority, charged with monitoring all vigilance activity under the Central government, advising various authorities in the Central government organisations in planning, executing, reviewing and reforming their vigilance work.
