New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Railways for the appointment of Sanjay Chander (IPS) to the post of Director General of Railways Protection Force (RPF) in the Railway Board. Chander is a 1987-batch Indian Police Officer (IPS) officer of the West Bengal cadre.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is India's largest Central Armed Police Force. It functions under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India. The CRPF's primary role lies in assisting the State/Union Territories in police operations to maintain law and order and counter-insurgency.
