Tina Soni (IAS) appointed as Director in Department of Fertilizers

New Delhi: Rajasthan cadre officer Tina Soni (IAS) has been appointed as Director in the Department of Fertilizers under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal for the appointment of Soni in the Department of Fertilizers. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), she has been appointed to the post on a lateral shift basis with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post and for a period up to March 3, 2023 (i.e. balance tenure of 5 years under Central Staffing Scheme), or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Tina is a 2007-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of Rajasthan cadre. She is currently serving as Director in the Cabinet Secretariat. On December 30, she was promoted to the post of Director in the Cabinet Secretariat. Prior to this, she serving as Deputy Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat since December 2017.

Department of Fertilizers (DoF)

Department of Fertilizers comes under the ambit of the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers which is headed by a Cabinet Minister who is assisted by two Ministers of State. The main objective of the Department of Fertilizers is to ensure adequate and timely availability of fertilizers at affordable prices for maximizing agricultural production in the country. The main functions of the Department include planning, promotion and development of the fertilizers industry, planning and monitoring of production, import and distribution of fertilizers and management of financial assistance by way of subsidy/concession for indigenous and imported fertilizers.
