New Delhi: The latest round of Cabinet reshuffle has seen as many as 36 new names getting appointment as ministers in the Modi government, and a few from the old guard retaining their ministries. A total of 43 leaders have taken oath as ministers on Wednesday. The rejig exercise comes in the backdrop of fierce criticism mounted by the Opposition on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the handling of the COVID-19 crisis and a historical rise in fuel prices.
In an official statement released late on Wednesday night, the government said, "The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has directed the allocation of portfolios among the following members of the Council of Ministers."
