New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL) celebrated its 45th foundation day on November 1 at its corporate office in Kolkata. The celebrations began with CIL's Chairman Anil Kumar Jha paying floral tributes at the Martyrs Memorial.

He later unfurled the CIL flag, along with the Functional Directors of CIL. He also felicitated the ex-board level executives and dignitaries who were present on the occasion.

While speaking on the occasion, Jha highlighted the importance of CIL in the Indian economy.

Coal India Limited had launched the 'contributory post-retirement medicare scheme' (CPRMS) – medical card for its retired employees. On the occasion of CIL's foundation day, the first card was handed over to former Chairman Dr MP Narayanan.

On the occasion of the CIL foundation Day, individual achievement awards were also given away by Dr E Sreedharan (known as the "Metro Man" of India), Jha, NC Jha (Former Chairman of CIL) and Narayanan.
