CSL Recruitment 2021: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has posted a job vacancy for the engagement of Director (Operations) for the corporation. Eligible and interested candidates can apply for the job before October 8. The post has been lying vacant since May 1.

The Director (Operations) of CSL is a member of the Board of Directors and report to Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He/she is responsible for planning & production, fabrication, outfitting, trials and delivery of ships under construction as per contractual schedules. He/she will be expected to work in close coordination with other Directors or Departments responsible for providing inputs, designs, materials required for timely construction of ships, besides overseeing Departments directly coming under his/her charge. He/she will be responsible for large industrial workforce involved with Ship production activities and will be required to ensure adherence to industrial Occupational Safety norms and statutory provisions. He/she is also responsible for industrial relation & motivation of a productive workforce.

Pay scale: Rs 1,60,000 – 2,90,000 (IDA)

Age Limit: Minimum age limit 40 years and age of superannuation 60 years

The minimum length of service required in the eligible scale will be one year for internal candidates, and two years for others as on the date of the vacancy.

Employment status

The applicant must, on the date of application, as well as on the date of interview, be employed in a regular capacity – and not in a contractual/ad-hoc capacity – in one of the followings:-

(a) Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) (including a full-time functional Director in the Board of a CPSE);
(b) The central government including the Armed Forces of the Union and All India Services;
(c) State Public Sector Enterprise (SPSE) where the annual turnover is *Rs 1,000 crore or more;
(d) Private sector in a company where the annual turnover is *Rs 1,000 crore or more.

Preference would be given to candidates from listed companies.

(*The average audited annual turnover of three financial years preceding the calendar year in which the post is advertised shall be considered for applying the approved limits)

Qualification

Applicant should be an Engineering graduate with good academic track record, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical or Marine or Naval Architecture discipline from a recognised university or institution.

Experience

The candidates should have a minimum 5 of the last 10 years' experience in Ship Building (Production, Planning) or Design or Repair Departments in PSU or private shipyards.

OR

Minimum 5 of last 10 years' experience in Ship Design or Overseeing of ships Construction for Officers working in the Indian Navy.

OR

Minimum 5 of last 10 years' experience in ship repair or maintenance for officers with Naval Headquarters (DFM) or Naval Dockyards or NSRY experience.

Note (i) Applicants from the central government or All India Services should be holding a post of the level of Director in Government of India or carrying equivalent scale of pay on the date of application.

(ii) Applicants from the Armed forces of the Union should be holding a post of the level of Brigadier in the Army or equivalent rank in Navy/Air Force on the date of application.

Applicants from State Public Sector Enterprises/ Private Sector should be working at Board level position or at least a post of the level immediately below the Board level on the date of application.

Duration of the appointment

The appointment shall be for a period of five years from the date of joining or up-to the date of superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
