

New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the district administration of Angul for implementation of community development and infrastructure projects worth Rs 3.93 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The projects are aimed at promoting sustainable livelihoods, improving civic infrastructure and enhancing connectivity for local communities in Angul district of Odisha.
Under the first MoU, MCL will provide financial assistance of Rs 31.56 lakh for the formation of aroma clusters at Tainsi, Bantala and Bagedia villages. The initiative is expected to benefit around 2,200 farmers registered under Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
The project includes promotion of aromatic crop cultivation, establishment of distillation units, skill development programmes, women-led livelihood activities and adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
In another initiative, MCL will provide Rs 2.61 crore for construction of roads and cross-drainage works at Dhouragatha village in Angul district. The project is expected to benefit 109 resettled families belonging to socially backward communities by improving accessibility and civic infrastructure.

Additionally, the company has committed Rs 1 crore for execution of six development projects under Talcher Municipality aimed at strengthening drainage systems and improving public infrastructure in the area.
According to the company, the initiatives are expected to significantly improve civic amenities, sanitation, drainage infrastructure and regional connectivity, thereby enhancing the quality of life of local communities.
MCL said the projects reaffirm its commitment towards inclusive growth, sustainable development and socio-economic upliftment in its operational regions.
