
New Delhi: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Skill Development Institute (SDI), Bhubaneswar, to implement a structured skill training programme for rural youths living around its operational areas.
The agreement, signed between NALCO Foundation, the CSR arm of the company, and SDI Bhubaneswar, has been formalised in the presence of NALCO Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Brijendra Pratap Singh, and NALCO Director (HR) Dr Tapas Kumar Pattanayak along with senior officials from both organisations.
Under this initiative, 30 youths each from the periphery villages of NALCO’s Mines & Refinery Complex at Damanjodi and its Smelter & Power Complex at Angul will undergo a three-month residential training programme across multiple trades. The training will be aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) of the National Skill Development Council, Government of India.
Highlighting the significance of the collaboration, Singh said, “This initiative is a step towards empowering local youths with industry-ready skills and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Through this partnership with SDI, NALCO is committed to nurturing talent at the grassroots level.”
The CSR initiative is aimed at strengthening employability and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in the regions where NALCO operates. The company has been undertaking several community development initiatives, with a strong focus on youth empowerment through skilling and education.
