REC extends Rs 20 crore CSR grant for welfare of armed forces’ families

New Delhi: In a significant gesture of support towards the armed forces, REC Limited has contributed Rs 20 crore to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The financial assistance aims to support the education of 16,667 children of ex-servicemen, martyrs, and war widows across the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The contribution has been channelled through the REC Foundation, the CSR arm of REC Limited, reaffirming the company’s ongoing commitment to social welfare and nation-building. A Memorandum of Agreement was signed to formalise the initiative between Shri Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director (CSR), REC Limited, and Brigadier D.S. Basera, Secretary, Kendriya Sainik Board, during a ceremony held in New Delhi.

This is not the first instance of REC’s support to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. Over the last two financial years, REC Foundation has provided ₹30 crore to the Fund, benefiting thousands of families from the defence community.

The AFFDF, administered by the Kendriya Sainik Board under the Ministry of Defence, utilises contributions to provide rehabilitation, welfare, and educational assistance to the dependents of service personnel, with a special focus on those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Through this sustained engagement, REC continues to demonstrate its dedication to fostering inclusive development and honouring the spirit of sacrifice made by India’s defence personnel and their families.
