New Delhi: REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has announced the incorporation of two new subsidiary companies—Umred Power Transmission Limited and Sakoli Power Transmission Limited. These entities have been established as wholly-owned subsidiaries of REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), which itself is a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Limited.
The move is in line with REC’s strategy to bolster the power transmission infrastructure in India and follows an allocation of intra-state transmission projects by the Government of Maharashtra. The projects pertain to the establishment of 400/220/132 kV substations at Umred in Nagpur district and Sakoli in Bhandara district.
According to the company’s regulatory filing, both Umred Power Transmission Limited and Sakoli Power Transmission Limited were incorporated on July 7, 2025, with an authorised and paid-up capital of ₹5 lakh each. As newly incorporated entities, they are yet to commence operations.
RECPDCL has been appointed as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) for both projects and will oversee the selection of successful bidders through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route. Upon finalisation of the bidding process, the respective project-specific companies will be transferred to the successful bidders along with their associated assets and liabilities.
These incorporations do not involve any related party transactions beyond REC’s direct and indirect shareholding, and no additional governmental or regulatory approvals are required at this stage.
With these additions, REC continues to play a key role in supporting the expansion and modernisation of India’s transmission network, particularly in the state of Maharashtra, aligning with national energy goals and regional development priorities.
