The trainees have been selected by Shahi Exports Private Limited, Bengaluru, and Arvind Fashion (M/s Value Fashion Retail Limited), Indore, for positions including Quality Controller, Assistant Supervisor, Writer and Smart Operator. The offer letters mark a key milestone in their journey towards financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.
The initiative has been implemented under the guidance of SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan and the leadership of Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das.
The selected women underwent one year of free, CSR-funded training, during which they acquired technical knowledge and practical skills relevant to the apparel and textile industry. The programme covered production processes, technical operations, quality control and other industry-oriented skills to prepare them for employment.
Speaking on the occasion, SECL Director (HR) Biranchi Das said the objective of Project Udaan goes beyond vocational training. The initiative seeks to improve employability, particularly among women, by equipping them with industry-relevant skills and creating pathways to economic empowerment and self-reliance. The selection of 33 trainees by reputed companies reflects the programme’s efforts to translate skill development into employment opportunities.
The distribution of offer letters brought joy to the trainees and their families, marking the beginning of the young women’s professional journeys. Their selection is expected to support their financial independence while contributing to the economic well-being of their families.
SECL is expanding its employment-oriented skill development initiatives across its operational areas. Free training programmes are currently being conducted with the company’s support at Korba, Gevra, Bishrampur and Sohagpur. The company also plans to open a new training centre in Raigarh to extend such opportunities to more young people, particularly women.
