New Delhi: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a significant contract worth Rs 2,210 crore (excluding taxes) with the Ministry of Defence for the supply of Electronic Warfare (EW) Suites for the Indian Air Force’s Mi-17 V5 helicopters.
The EW Suite—comprising a Radar Warning Receiver (RWR), Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS), and Counter Measure Dispensing System (CMDS)—has been indigenously designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) CASDIC lab and will be manufactured by BEL. The system is designed to enhance combat survivability and provide robust countermeasure capabilities for the helicopters during operations.
This contract is a step forward in India's ongoing efforts to strengthen self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative. BEL’s indigenously built solutions continue to play a pivotal role in enhancing the operational readiness and safety of the Indian armed forces.
With this order, BEL’s cumulative order intake for the current financial year has reached Rs 2,803 crore.
