The keel laying ceremony marks a significant step in the execution of a contract signed between MDL and Navi Merchants for the design, construction, and delivery of six MPVs. Each vessel is valued at approximately USD 14 million, with the first vessel scheduled for delivery in April 2026.

The MPV, designated Yard 21001, has an overall length of 116.2 meters and a deadweight of 7,500 tonnes. It is designed to attain a speed of not less than 11 knots, with a shaft generator power take-off of about 85kW. The vessel will be built under the rules and certification of DNV classification society.

MDL commenced production activities for this project on September 24, 2024. The successful keel laying event underscores MDL’s growing presence in the global shipbuilding industry and reinforces its capabilities in executing international contracts.
