New Delhi: Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a leading Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, organised its annual Customer Meet 2025 in Hyderabad with a focused theme — “Indigenization of Strategic Materials: Design, Material, Product, Quality – Building Resilience Together.”

The conclave served as a strategic platform for key stakeholders from the Defence, Aerospace, and Strategic Sectors to deliberate on advancing self-reliance in critical materials through collaboration, innovation, and customer engagement.

The Chief Guest of the event was U Raja Babu, Distinguished Scientist and Director General (Missiles & Strategic Systems), DRDO. The event was further graced by prominent figures including Cmde A Madhava Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, BDL; Anurag Kumar, CMD, ECIL; and Dr JR Joshi, CEO, BrahMos Aerospace, who attended as Guests of Honour.

In his keynote address, MIDHANI CMD outlined the company’s achievements and strategic initiatives in driving indigenization of advanced materials. He emphasised MIDHANI’s pivotal role in supporting India’s defence and space programmes through its expertise in specialty materials.

A key highlight of the conclave was the release of MIDHANI’s Technical Catalogue by the Chief Guest. The catalogue represents the company's comprehensive technical capabilities and its roadmap for future growth in critical materials development.

The event featured a technical session with insightful presentations by experts from MIDHANI, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). These sessions showcased indigenous breakthroughs and collaborative case studies aimed at strengthening India’s strategic material ecosystem.

A high-level panel discussion titled “Atmanirbhar in Strategic Materials” brought together eminent experts including Prof. BS Murthy, Director, IIT Hyderabad (Moderator); Dr K Balasubramanian, Director, NFTDC; Dr JR Joshi, CEO, BrahMos Aerospace; PV Raja Ram, Director (Production), BDL; Dr Govind, Deputy Director, VSSC; VN Anil Kumar, GM, HAL (F&F); and Dr K Gopinath, Associate Director, DMRL. The panel deliberated on reducing import dependency and developing a robust indigenous supply chain for critical materials and components.

The event began with a ceremonial lamp lighting and welcome address by T Muthukumar, Director (Production & Marketing), MIDHANI.

The conclave concluded on an optimistic note, reaffirming MIDHANI’s commitment to the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through innovation-driven partnerships and excellence in materials engineering.
