New Delhi: Department of Commerce's Joint Secretary Diwakar Nath Mishra (lAS), who is also holding additional charge as of Chairman of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), has been given tenure extension on his additional charge. According to a DoPT order, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal for extension of the additional charge of the post of Chairman APEDA to Diwakar Nath Mishra (lAS). His services have been extended for a period of six months beyond September 14 or till a regular incumbent assumes charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is the earliest. Mishra is a 2000-batch IAS officer of Assam cadre. Currently, he is serving as a Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce.
Mishra has completed his graduation in Hindi and post-graduation in Philosophy with the first division. He has served various important positions at the centre level as well as the state level. He started his services as SDO (Civil) of Rangia, Assam in 2002. In 2004, he was appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup District, Assam. Subsequently, he served at various positions viz: Joint Secretary of Home & Political Department; Staff Officer in Chief Secretary's Office; Deputy Commissioner of Dhemaji (Assam); Deputy Commissioner, Golaghat (Assam); Member (Deputy Secretary level) in Revenue Department of Assam; Principal Secretary, NC Hills (Haflong); Additional Secretary Panchayat & Rural Development Department in the government of Assam.
At the centre, he has held as Deputy Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat; Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas; Joint Secretary (Equivalent) in Oil Industry Development Board and Joint Secretary of the Department of Commerce and Ministry of Commerce and Industry etc.
Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is an apex body of the government under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. IT is responsible for the export promotion of agricultural products. APEDA was established by the government under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act passed by the Parliament in December 1985.
