New Delhi: The Central Government on Wednesday extended the tenure of Enforcement Directorate (ED) Director Sanjay Kumar Mishra by one year till November 18, 2022. As per an order issued by the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance, "President of India is pleased to extend the tenure of Sanjay Kumar Mishra (IRS) as Director of Enforcement for a period of one year beyond November 18, 2021, i.e. up to November 18, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier."
Mishra is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 1984-batch of the Income Tax Department cadre. He was first appointed as the Director of ED for a period of two years and later the appointment letter was modified by the Central government and his term of two years was replaced by three years.
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is a law enforcement agency and economic intelligence agency responsible for enforcing economic laws and fighting economic crime in India. It is part of the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
