
New Delhi: In recognition of their outstanding contributions to India’s landmark achievement of 1 billion tonnes in total coal production, two employees of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) were felicitated by the Union Minister of Coal & Mines G Kishan Reddy, and the Minister of State for Coal & Mines Satish Chandra Dubey.
The felicitation took place during the 12th round of the Commercial Coal Mine Auction event held in New Delhi, where several employees from Coal India Limited’s (CIL) subsidiaries were honored for their instrumental roles in achieving this historic production milestone.
In the officer category, Prashant Sharma, General Manager (Mining) and Sub-Area Manager of Bijuri Sub-Area in the Hasdeo Area, was recognized for his effective management and early achievement of targets in Baherabandh and Bijuri Underground Mines. His leadership in optimizing operational efficiency played a crucial role in the mine’s contribution to the overall production goal.
Similarly, in the employee category, Patil, Senior Overman at Jagannathpur Opencast Mine in Bhathgaon Area, was awarded for his significant efforts in achieving the overburden (OB) removal target of the mine. His diligence and expertise have been pivotal in maintaining the mine’s productivity and operational efficiency.
On this occasion, SECL’s Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Harish Duhan, extended his congratulations to both employees, acknowledging their dedication, commitment, and exemplary work ethic. He emphasized that this recognition is a moment of pride for the entire SECL family and encouraged all employees to continue their efforts with the same energy and determination.
The achievement of 1 billion tonnes of coal production marks a significant milestone in India's energy sector, reinforcing the crucial role played by Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries in meeting the nation's energy demands. The recognition of employees like Shri Sharma and Shri Patil highlights the importance of individual contributions in driving collective success in the sector.
