New Delhi: As part of the nationwide observance of Swachhata Hi Seva and the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, NTPC Bongaigaon organised a series of activities to reinforce its commitment towards a cleaner and greener environment. The programme was held under the aegis of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 from September 17 to October 2, aligning with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of cleanliness and sustainability.
A walkathon was organised within the station and township premises to spread awareness on the importance of cleanliness, waste segregation, and sustainable living. The Walkathon was led by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, and saw the enthusiastic participation of Heads of various departments, representatives of the Union and Association, members of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, and employees with their families. Participants carried placards and raised slogans emphasizing collective responsibility in ensuring a clean and healthy environment.
In line with the plantation campaign themed “One Tree in the Name of Mother”, a Mass Plantation Drive was organized, coordinated by the Environment Management Group (EMG) Department. The initiative witnessed the planting of more than 100 saplings in the township area near the power plant. Leaders, employees, and volunteers joined hands to make the drive a success, reaffirming NTPC Bongaigaon’s role as a responsible corporate citizen. This plantation drive under the slogan #Plant4Mother not only contributes to enhancing green cover but also nurtures a deeper bond of care towards Mother Earth.
Complementing the plantation activity, a Cleanliness Drive was undertaken under the banner of Swachhotsav – Celebrating a Clean, Green & Healthy Future for All. Employees, CISF personnel, and community members joined the effort by cleaning common areas and sensitizing residents about proper waste management practices. The drive reinforced the importance of individual and collective responsibility in building a sustainable future.
The observance of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 at NTPC Bongaigaon reflected a strong commitment to community welfare, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. By organizing the Walkathon, Mass Plantation Drive, and Cleanliness Activities at the nearby communities, NTPC Bongaigaon has once again contributed to the larger national mission of building a cleaner, greener, and healthier India.
