IGL’s MD ES Ranganathan set to be Director (Marketing) of GAIL

New Delhi: ES Ranganathan is set to be next Director (Marketing) of GAIL (India) Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). The name of Ranganathan has been recommended by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Thursday. He is currently serving as Managing Director (MD) in Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), a leading natural gas distribution company. With his new appointment, Ranganathan will succeed Gajendra Singh.

Ranganathan has been recommended for the post of Director (Marketing) of GAIL from a list of eight candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. On the list, three candidates were from GAIL (India) Limited, two were from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), one was from Indian Telecommunication Service and another from Andhra Pradesh Gas Distribution Corporation (APGDC).

Career and background 

Ranganathan is an engineering graduate (BTech in Instrumentation and Control Engineering) from NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad, Kerala. He has also completed an MBA in Marketing from IGNOU. Prior to joining IGL, Ranganathan was posted as Executive Director (Corporate O&M) in GAIL (India) Limited, where he has worked for over three decades and was involved in the construction of Dahej-Vijaipur, Vijaipur-Dadri and Bawana Nangal Pipeline Projects.
