Guwahati: The first workshop-cum-instructor technique course for air traffic control officers, who are posted at various airports and stations of the northeast region was inaugurated by AAI Regional Executive Director (NER) Sanjeev Jindal. The workshop started on October 23 and concluded on Friday at AAI Guwahati.

Joint General Managers (Air Traffic Management) MY Yaseen and Jabeera Yaseen were course instructor for this workshop.

In his inaugural address, Jindal said that ATCOs are one of the most important workforces of AAI where the duty requires full dedication, devotion and discipline.

The set guidelines are followed in every task where results are safe and secure air travel. And to upkeep them throughout, imparting training is important part of their duty, he said.

Air Traffic Control

Air traffic control is considered to be one of the professions which requires to maintain a high level of proficiency and it can be achieved only through continuous and rigorous training. Therefore, training forms an integral part of this profession, which in turn, requires highly qualified, trained and motivated instructors who can impart training to Air Traffic Control Officers (ATCO).

International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) follows the principle of continuous monitoring in its audits programme and in the last ICAO Coordinated Validation Mission, flagged the licensing of Air Traffic Control Officers.
