New Delhi: Mritunjaya Sharma (IRS) has been selected for the appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA). According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on December 28, Sharma has been selected for the appointment under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of four years from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever event takes place earlier.

Sharma is an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of 2009-batch. He is currently serving as Joint Commissioner of Income Tax. He was recommended for the Central deputation by the Department of Revenue. "He may kindly be relieved of his duties immediately with instructions to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Civil Aviation," the order further read.

Sharma is an Engineering Graduate (B Tech in Mechanical Engineering) from Punjab Technical University. He has also completed Masters of Engineering (M Tech) from Panjab University. Prior to joining IRS services in 2009, Sharma has worked with Maharatna Power PSU NTPC Limited from September 2004 to August 2009 as a Senior Engineer.
