New Delhi: Bir Singh Negi (IDAS) has been given additional charge as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India (SPMCIL). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal for entrustment of the additional charge of the post of CVO of SPMCIL to Negi. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Negi has been given additional charge of the post for a period of three months with effect from May 8, 2021, or till the appointment of a regular CVO or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Negi is an Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) officer of the 1994 batch. He has been serving as CVO of MMTC Limited, since July 2017. Negi is an Art Graduate (BA) from the Govt PG Collage Dharmsala of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He has also done a Master's in Art (MA) from the International Institute of Social Studies.
Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) was incorporated under the Indian Companies Act, 1956 after the corporatisation of nine Mints/Presses/Mills which were working earlier under the Ministry of Finance as industrial departmental organisations. The main objective of the company is the development and production of cost-efficient high-quality security products of international standard and to meet the requirements of Central Government and State Governments regarding security products, currency and coins. The Company is a Miniratna CPSE with the administrative jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance.
