Dileep Sanghani elected as new Chairman of IFFCO

New Delhi: Dileep Sanghani has been elected as new Chairman of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO), one of the world's largest multi-state cooperative society, on Wednesday. The Board of Directors of IFFCO has elected him unanimously. Previously, he was serving as Vice-Chairman on the Board since 2019. The appointment of a new Chairman had become necessary after IFFCO's former Chairman Balvinder Singh passed away in October 2021.

Upon his election, IFFCO's Managing Director (MD) Dr US Awasthi congratulated Sanghani and wished him very best for his new role. He wrote on Twitter, "Heartiest Congratulations to Senior Cooperator Sh. Dileep Sanghani Ji for being elected as Chairman of IFFCO."

Sanghani is an eminent cooperator who has been deeply involved in providing strength to the Indian cooperative movement for the last three decades. He has held key positions in various top national and state-level cooperative organisations like NAFED, NCUI and GUJCOMASOL in the past. He has represented the Amreli constituency four times in the Lok Sabha from 1991 to 2004. He has also served as an MLA from Amreli and has headed various key ministries like Agriculture, Cooperation, Animal Husbandry, etc in Gujarat. Sanghani has been instrumental in formulating farmer-oriented policies of IFFCO.

Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) is a multi-state cooperative society engaged in the business of manufacturing and marketing of fertilisers products. It is headquartered in New Delhi. Starting in 1967 with 57 member cooperatives, it is today the biggest cooperative society in the world by turnover on GDP per capita, with around 35,000 member cooperatives reaching over 50 million Indian farmers. With around 19 percent market share in urea and around 29 percent market share in complex fertilisers (P2O5 terms), IFFCO is India's largest fertiliser manufacturer.
