New Delhi: Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL), a Bhopal-based construction and infrastructure development company, has bagged the contract for removing the overburden (OB) in the Anuppur project of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). The total contract value is about Rs 2,683 crore. This information has been shared by DBL in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Tuesday.
"DBL has emerged as L-1 bidder for a new OB Removal Contract Mining work for Amadand OCP, Jamuna Kotma Area, Tehsil- Kotma, Distt.- Anuppur in the State of Madhya Pradesh valued at Rs 2,683.02 crores (Including GST) by the South Eastern Coalfield Limited (SECL), A subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL)," DBL said in the filing.
Under this contract, DBL will remove a total of 236.183 million BCM Over Burden (OB) in 1,795 days.
The contract profile includes hiring heavy earth moving machinery (HEMM) and allied equipment for overburden removal, loading in-to tippers, transportation and unloading of excavated materials and silt, dumping, dozing, scrapping/removal of all bands, preparation/maintenance of haul road, water sprinkling and spreading of excavated material at the site shown and levelling dumps as per direction of the Management /Engineer-in-Charge for a period of 1,795 days at Amadand OCP, Jamuna Kotma Area, DBL further said.
Over Burden (OB) is the material that lies above an area that lends itself to economical exploitation, such as the rock, soil, and ecosystem that lies above a coal seam, during mining.
SECL, the flagship arm of Coal India Limited (CIL), is the largest coal-producing entity of state-run miner. The coal reserves of SECL straddle over two states of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Of the 89 mines that the Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh-headquartered company is operating, 35 are in the state of Madhya Pradesh and 54 in Chhattisgarh besides a Coal Carbonization Plant namely Dankuni Coal Complex (DCC) at Dankuni in West Bengal on lease basis from CIL.
