New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited has registered a 36 percent decline in profit after tax (PAT) in the March quarter and a 26 percent decline in PAT for FY21 year-on-year (y-o-y). However, when compared to December quarter of FY21 (Rs 1,487 crore), GAIL has witnessed a growth of 28 percent in PAT in Q4. The PAT figure for Q4 of FY21 stands at Rs 1,908 crore and for the entire financial year at Rs 4,890.18 crore. 

At the close of FY20, GAIL's PAT was at Rs 6,620.63 crore. And for Q4 of FY20, the figure was at Rs 3,018.20 crore.

GAIL records turnover of Rs 15,472 cr in Q4 FY2020-21

GAIL recorded a turnover of Rs 15,472 crore in Q4 FY21 vis-a-vis Rs 15,386 crore in Q3 FY21, Profit before Tax (PBT) in Q4 FY21 increased by 40 percent to Rs 2,612 crore as against Rs 1,868 crore in Q3 of FY21. The consolidated group turnover for FY21 stood at Rs 57,208 crore, PBT was Rs 7,725 crore and PAT was Rs 6,136 crore.

GAIL's petrochemical business showed better performance with more than 100 percent capacity utilisation. The sales increased by 18 percent to 871 TMT, the petrochemical plant recorded the highest-ever production of 813 TMT. The petrochemical segment reported a PBT of Rs 1,027 crore in FY21 on account of better physical performance and improved price realisation.

GAIL diversifying into CBG, ethanol, RE: CMD

GAIL CMD Manoj Jain said that the operations of the plant and pipelines were stable and no major shutdown took place during FY21. During the year, the company's capex was Rs 6,982 crore, which was incurred mainly on pipelines. In addition, GAIL also undertook several initiatives to support its employees, society and the country to combat COVID-19. Jain added that under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, GAIL's management has given a thrust to expand in the areas of compressed bio-gas (CBG), ethanol and renewable energy. GAIL is undertaking several initiatives to diversify in these areas, said the CMD.
