NCL to install Oxygen generation plants in its 2 hospitals

New Delhi/ Singrauli: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) is installing two Oxygen generating plants of capacity 600 Ltr/min in its Nehru Shatabdi Chikitsalaya, Jayant (MP), and Atal Chikitsalaya, Bina (UP) which will cater Oxygen need for the people of Singrauli and Sonbhadra region. This development comes in the wake of the second wave of the COVID pandemic in India.

Mining about 115 Million Tonnes of coal annually NCL has a huge responsibility to fulfil the energy aspiration of the country. NCL houses about 14000 employees which are engaged in round-the-clock coal production, safety becomes of paramount importance for employees and their kin.

In the trying times, NCL's CMD PK Sinha reaffirmed the company's safety commitment towards dedicated coal miners who are tirelessly working round the clock in coalfields. Giving thrust on energy security in the testing times he exhorted for uninterrupted coal supply to the nation.

At the workplace, NCL has ensured strict COVID measures along with verbatim compliance with government COVID guidelines. Proper sanitization of machines, workshops, maintaining social distancing, thermal scanning, etc. is being done stringently. COVID safety gears have been provided. A dedicated COVID testing facility and Special Fever Clinic, COVID Clearance Cell (CCC), and 24*7 Control center are also working. Mass awareness of COVID appropriate behaviour at workplaces, use of digital media, proper quarantine and isolation, provision of quick and best in class medical facilities have been taken.

NCL has arranged the dedicated facility of more than 750 Beds for COVID in its different operational areas with more than 100 oxygen-supported beds. 50 more oxygen concentrators are in the procurement stage to increase the oxygen-supported bed to 200. A purchase order for 1,000 dose of Remdisivir has been placed. Mass vaccination is being done at different centres and more than 10,000 Jabs have been administered till date.

NCL under its CSR initiative to assist with Rs 8.5 crore for procurement of medical equipment in Singrauli district to combat the Corona pandemic. With another Rs 1 crore, the company will spend on the distribution of essential medicines, medical equipment, masks, and sanitisers for Gram panchayats in and around projects/units. NCL to also assist the procurement of oxygen generation plants in Sonbhadra with an estimated cost of Rs 65 Lakh. Previously NCL has assisted the State Government of MP by Rs 20 crore and the government of Uttar Pradesh by Rs 5 crore to fight COVID-19.
