New Delhi: National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) recently. NSIC's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Vijayendra (IAS) exchanged copies of MoU with ALIMCO's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) DR Sarin. According to the NSIC, the MoU has been signed by NSIC's Director (P&M) P Udayakumar in the presence of NSIC's Director (Finance) Gaurang Dixit.
As per the MoU, both organisations will work together through the network of NSIC and its various schemes for the identification of MSMEs to encourage them for sourcing substitute and replacement to imports through indigenous products to strengthen domestic supply base for critical components used in the manufacturing of assistive devices by ALIMCO. This will not only encourage domestic manufacturing but also will be a step towards PM Narendra Modi vision 'Atmanirbhar Bharat.' In addition, ALIMCO will explore possibilities to utilize NSIC's common facility services and material testing facilities available at NSIC Technical Services Centre spread across the country.

ALIMCO is a not for profit central public sector undertaking under the administrative control of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and has been manufacturing various types of aids and appliances on a mass scale to meet the requirements of persons with disabilities (PwDs) across the country.
