NCL CMD gets ICC Excellence award for Nation building

New Delhi: PK Sinha, CMD, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), has been conferred with the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) PSE excellence award. "The award has been given to Sinha for his outstanding contribution to nation-building as a leader of a public sector enterprise (PSE) in the coal sector," an official release said. Sinha received the award from Ajay Dua, Former Secretary, Commerce and Industry, in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Sinha has diverse experience of 36 years in mining. He assumed the charge of NCL CMD in December 2017. Under his leadership, the company entered the coveted 100-million-tonne coal group in FY 2018-19 and became the third-largest coal producer of the country. "Considering the rise in coal production and productivity coupled with incessant efforts in promoting social concerns, Sinha is writing a new definition of NCL's contributions towards nation-building," the release said.

He has also been awarded Mine Safety Award by President of India during his tenure as Director (Technical/Project & Planning) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited. His paper on slope management was appreciated by MGMI. He has also presented various technical papers on coal on national and international forums. “Sinha represented the Indian coal industry in the World Mining Congress in the year 2008 in Poland and in the year 2011 in Istanbul. He also represented the Indian coal sector in International Mines Expo held in Las Vegas in September 2016. He was part of the delegation which went to Russia recently for exploring the possibilities of upgradation and digitisation of mines,” the release said.
