New Delhi: In a move aimed at advancing indigenous manufacturing and supporting modern infrastructure development, BEML Limited has unveiled next-generation upgrades of its flagship construction equipment—the BE220G Hydraulic Excavator and the BL9H Backhoe Loader. The upgraded models were launched during a special event at BEML’s Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) Complex and were virtually inaugurated by Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML.
The launch was attended by BEML's Director (Mining & Construction Business) Sanjay Som along with senior officials of the company. The rollout of these advanced machines underscores BEML’s commitment to the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, with both models fully developed by the company’s in-house R&D team.
“These upgraded machines demonstrate BEML’s capability to deliver world-class, indigenous solutions tailored for India’s evolving infrastructure and construction landscape,” said BEML CMD Shantanu Roy during the launch.
The upgraded BE220G Hydraulic Excavator is equipped with a robust 148 HP CUMMINS engine and a next-generation hydraulic system designed for superior fuel efficiency and productivity. With features such as two-speed travel, electronic monitoring, and a spacious high-visibility operator cabin, the excavator delivers top-tier performance in heavy-duty applications. It has an operating mass of 22,800 kg and a bucket capacity range from 0.44 to 1.26 cubic metres, making it well-suited for demanding construction and mining tasks.
The BL9H Backhoe Loader offers a versatile solution for construction, agriculture, and landscaping sectors. Powered by a 74 HP engine, the machine is available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations and is compatible with a variety of attachments including forks, augers, hammers, and breakers. With a maximum forward speed of 39 kmph, the BL9H delivers excellent mobility, enhanced operator comfort, and adaptability across job sites.
With these new models, BEML continues to strengthen its position as a key player in India’s construction and mining equipment sector. The company’s focus on indigenous innovation and cost-effective engineering is expected to reduce reliance on imported machinery while offering customers high-performance alternatives tailored to Indian conditions.
