The company informed stock exchanges on Friday that it has received a Notification of Award (NOA) from Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (MUNPL) for the EPC package of the project.
MUNPL is a joint venture between NTPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited.
According to the disclosure, the contract covers design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning works for the EPC package of the 3x800 MW supercritical thermal power project located in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh.
The order was awarded through an international competitive bidding process. BHEL received the notification from MUNPL on June 4, 2026.
The project is scheduled to be completed within 70 months from the date of the award notification.
The contract marks one of the largest thermal power project orders secured by BHEL in recent years and is expected to further strengthen the company's order book in the power sector.

BHEL also clarified that the contract does not fall under related-party transactions. The company, however, noted that it is the executing agency for the project, while MUNPL is the project owner and a joint venture between NTPC and UPRVUNL.
The Meja Stage-II project is expected to augment power generation capacity in Uttar Pradesh and support growing electricity demand in the region through high-efficiency supercritical technology.
