New Delhi: State-owned engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured an order from Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL) for the Coal Gasification and Raw Syngas Cleaning Package for BCGCL’s Coal-to-2000 tonnes per day (TPD) Ammonium Nitrate Project at Jharsuguda in Odisha.
BCGCL is a joint venture company of BHEL and Coal India Limited (CIL). The order involves engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and performance guarantee (EPC) of the coal gasification and raw syngas cleaning facilities, which constitute the core process units of the integrated chemical complex.
The scope of work includes the supply and installation of the gasifier and its associated auxiliaries, steam generation plant, air separation unit, coal and ash handling systems, as well as cooling tower facilities.
Notably, the project will deploy BHEL’s in-house developed Pressurised Fluidised Bed Gasification (PFBG) technology, marking its first commercial-scale application. The development is a significant milestone for BHEL in the clean coal and gasification segment and aligns with the broader objective of promoting coal-based value-added products through indigenous technologies.
