According to an official statement, Coal India, the Mineral Resources Department of the Madhya Pradesh Government (through the Directorate of Geology and Mining), and the Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corporation Limited executed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 23 in Katni, Madhya Pradesh.

The agreement seeks cooperation in the field of exploration and exploitation of critical minerals and other minerals of mutual interest. The signing took place during the "Madhya Pradesh Mining Conclave 2.0" and was witnessed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav.

The collaboration marks an important step for CIL as it looks to diversify beyond coal and contribute to India’s push for securing critical mineral supply chains. Critical minerals are essential for sectors such as renewable energy, electric mobility, electronics, and defence manufacturing.
